APPLYING FOR UNIQUE STUDENTS IDENTIFIER NUMBERS

The College has been requested by the Education Department to have all the students apply for a new student number.

This is called USI meaning - Unique Student Identifier.

All students in Australia need to have this number to enrol in further education once they leave school and to receive
any certificates they achieve whilst at school.

The College cannot enrol any student in VET, TAFE or Traineeship courses without this number.

All of our students will need a USI number so please support our College in this process and ensure your child has their USI number by logging on to the website below.

You will need to have identification for your child once you log on to the website. This can be one of the following (more examples are on the website).

• Learners Permit
• Medicare Card
• Australian Passport
• Visa
• Birth Certificate – NOT an extract

For further information, please see the link below.

www.usi.gov.au

Select Create USI, follow the prompts and fill in the form.

Student Smartrider 50 Cent Fare: Conditions of Travel

From time to time, members of the public write to us about incidents where students have chosen not to stand for adults, especially those with particular with needs, when travelling on public transport.

While Transperth is the agency responsible for all bus, train and ferry services in the metropolitan area, we know that many thousands of students use the public transport system each day in school terms. Indeed, they are subsidised to do so through the Student SmartRider 50 cent fare.

You are reminded that when travelling on the Student SmartRider 50 cent fare, you must stand for adults, particularly adults with special needs (eg. seniors, people with disabilities and pregnant women).

There are many people in our community who struggle to stand for long periods when on buses or trains. By offering them your seat you are not only adhering to the conditions of your subsidised 50 cent fare but helping someone in greater need.

Further details of conditions for the Student SmartRider 50 cent fare are on the Transperth website.

Year 7 - Australian School Curriculum 2015

This year, we have Year 7 school students that have moved into secondary school and are being taught under the new Australian Curriculum.

The Year 7 Australian Curriculum has more in-depth content in each subject and higher expectations about the knowledge and skills that children need so they can succeed in and contribute to our modern world.  Some Western Australian curriculum content that is currently taught in Year 8 will be taught in Year 7 from 2015 in the Australian Curriculum.

For further information on the Curriculum, please click the link below:

Smartrider Cards

Smartrider Cards are available in our 'Student Services Department' for $5.00 per card.  This card is to be utilised in the school Library to enable students to borrow books, use on buses and is a very important source of identification.  If your child has not applied for the Smartrider Card, please do so before school, recess and lunch.

Skateboard and Scooter - reminder

Please be reminded that skateboards and scooters are not allowed at school. If you do bring them to school, then the item will be handed into administration for a parent or guardian to collect.

Thank you for your co-operation.
